Florida and Corona

Sunny, warm, and soccer. The best combo in my mind. Our team took a trip down to West Palm Beach, to play three games and go against florida teams. The trip started off with fun and laughs Friday night, our first game was early the next morning. We were astonished by the heat. We started the game strong with a 0-0 tie at half. We ended up losing 0-2 in the end. We got a hour or so to rest and came back to the fields to play again. We banged two in the back of the net to win the game 2-0. That night we had lots of fun as a team. We had a lip sync battle, went went swimming and enjoyed the warmth. The next day we played the 3rd team in Florida. They had very skilled players and ended up beating us 0-6. After the hard games we ended up taking 3rd. That rest of the trip we enjoyed time with friends, went to the beach and got very burnt.

This upcoming weekend we were going to go to New Richmond for a 5v5 tournament, but is was canceled because of the Corona, along with many other things. Concerts, plays, or any gatherings are canceled.

Crazy Good Soccer Players

January is over in a blink of an eye. This past month we played a ton of futsal games. Futsal is done for the year, we’ll have to wait until next year to play futsal again. It was a blast we ending in 3rd place for one team and 2nd for the other. The last couple weeks we won 7-2, 5-3, and lost 1-2.

In two weeks we are going to Florida and we’ve been practicing to prepare. This blog post is a little different sense winter doesn’t have as much games or news to share about. Today I’m gonna talk about some soccer players that are crazy good.

This previous summer the United States Women’s team won the world cup and was declared the best in the world. They started the world cup off with a 13-0 win against Thailand. They won the rest of their games to make it to the finale. They won 2-0 against Netherlands to take the trophy. After the tournament Megan Rapinoe was recognised for her performance and award the golden boot and golden ball. Alex Morgan was awarded with the silver boot, and Rose Lavelle with the bronze ball. Shortly after the team was named Time’s athlete of the year.

Another soccer player that is rising quickly, plays with the Chicago Red Stars, and Australia. Sam Kerr, is only 26 and had won three golden boots and two MVP awards. She is the all time leading goal scorer in the W-league, with 70 goals under her belt. In addition, she has 69 more goals with the teams in the usa. She’s played for Western New York Flash, Sky Blue FC and Chicago Red Stars. Sam Kerr just signed a two and a half year deal with the English club Chelsea.  She is beginning a new chapter with that team as she starts playing in the WSL.

One of the most famous woman soccer players Alex Morgan, is taking a break from soccer for a little bit as she is starting a family with her husband Servando Carrasco, a midfielder from LA Galaxy. Alex morgan’s baby is due April 2020. Alex morgan is still planning to play in the olympics this summer less than four months after he baby is due. She’s taking the proper precautions and is hoping to be ready to go, to play in Tokyo this summer.

Women’s soccer took another win by winning a equal pay lawsuit. Overall 2019 was a crazy year for women’s soccer with some amazing players who keep getting better. I can’t wait to see who will win the gold this summer in Tokyo.

Winter Begins, Soccer Continues.

I personally hate the winter season, you can’t get out on a big field and play under a warm sun. Plus it is months until we have games again. Futsal passes the time and makes winter a lot more enjoyable. Futsal is one of my favorite types of soccer. Futsal is an indoor soccer league, it’s 5 v 5 with the goalie. The field is small and the goal is small too. There are a couple different rules then when your out on the big field.

One, you kick the ball in when it goes out of bounds instead of throwing it in.

Two, the goalie throws it in instead of having a goal kick.

Three, the ball is heavier, so it doesn’t bounce as much.

Those are the basic rules otherwise its the same rules as when your on the big field. Except offsides, there isn’t any of that in futsal. Each Futsal session lasts six weeks with one game every friday. The first six weeks we had some crazy scores.

To start of the season we played on November 1st against st. croix, the end result was a a seven to three, win.

The next week we didn’t have a game in order to fundraise for the upcoming tournament. We had a meat raffle at Big Guys Barbecue and raised over a thousand dollars. The next week we played NSSA, the final score was thirteen to five.

We played St. Croix again and ended up losing three to six.

On November 29nd we played two games to make up for the week we missed. We won 15-8 against New Richmond, and a couple hours later lost a close game 6-7.

The last week was play offs, meaning the first and second team play, third and forth play and so on. We landed in third so we played the fourth place team. We played New Richmond’s, other team, and won nine to two, securing our spot in third place for the session.

After the first six weeks in futsal, we traveled to Blaine for a 5v5 holiday tournament. We even made snowman shirts to get in the festive spirit. The afternoon was filled with games, and lots of goals. We started our first game around 4 and played against NSSA. It was a close game and was still zero, zero at half. NSSA, managed to get three goals in the back of the net. We were losing three zero but managed to catch up, at final score was three to four. It was a close game but we lost

The next game we played about an hour later. It was another close game, Emily and I both put the ball in the back of the net but they managed to get the lead back and win the game. We lost two to four. The last game we played Den Den. We ended up scoring a bunch of goals and then started trying new things. In the second half our coach wanted us to only take two touches. They ended up getting one goal on us, we weren’t concerned about playing defense and they snuck by us. The game ended with a score of 16-1.

The next futsal session started and we had to make two teams, because more people had signed up. The first week one team ended up winning 13-3.

The other team ended up losing by one goal, 7-8.

The next week we played again and won 9-7 but also lost 6-7.

This last Friday, we played and won both our games. The first one we ended up winning 18-7. The second game we played again and the score ended at 7-2. As of now one team is in 1st for the league and the other is tied for third. We have three more weeks of games and then futsal is over for the winter. In the last couple of months we played 16 games and ended with a record of nine wins and seven loses.

We’ve been raising a bunch of money so our team can go to a tournament this upcoming February. We ended up picking a tournament in West Palm Beach, Florida, and are going there for Presidents day. I’m so excited to escape the snow in Wisconsin and get under the warm sun. There is still a lot of winter left, but so far winter had been a great season for soccer.

36 Goals?

Six games one after another. We faced snow, cold, and win. But what we weren’t prepared for was the ball hitting the back of the net 36 times. With a rough start at a hard tourney we bounced right back into a crazy season.

9/14  Game 1 vs. Twin Cities Fire

It was a warm sunny day, perfect weather for our first league game. We took the field ready to win. We scored four goals and won our first game just like that. 4-1.

9/15 Game 2 vs. Salvo

Salvo was on the top of the league. They were undefeated and so where we. We took the field. It was a close game. They scored we scored. We scored they scored. Overall we tried our best but came short. We got the tie. 2-2.

9/21 Game 3 vs. St. Croix

After being sick on friday. I took the field feeling tired. Very tired. Lucky we started the game strong and at the top of the 18′ I scored. 1-0. Then A few minutes later I scored again 2-0. Then we worked together as an offense to total up 5-0 goals before half time. After half time we scored 4 more goals to end the game; 9-1.

9/22 Game 4 vs. Blaine

Feeling refreshed from my nasty cold, I was excited to play again. We scored goal after goal to make it 5-0 by half. We finished them off and took the dub 7-0.

10/5 Game 5 vs. Eclipse select

After a week off, we come back to play a cold rainy muddy game. It was very cold and the ball was slipping all over. We scored once again right away then again and again. My hands were freezing. By half time it was 4-0. We weren’t playing as well as we should’ve. We started the second half playing with a new energy. Allie crossed the ball into the box, with an easy tap, The score was 5-0. A bad trough ball turned to an easy grab for their goalie. I was still sprinting toward the goal. Their defender was shielding me from the goalie. The goalie dropped the ball, and I was right their to get a toe poke, just enough for it to trickle into the back of the net. 6-0. Caliea banged in two more, with us ending the game at; 8-0

10/6 Game 6 vs. Eagan wave

It was a very windy day. Chilled I took the field. We weren’t playing that well and kept getting beat to the ball. Our chances weren’t ending in goals. We got a couple goals past the goalie and managed to take the lead. We played an ok game and ended up with a 5-2 win.

We had one more tournament to end the season off to wisconsin dells we went. With a long drive ahead of us, I relaxed, thankful for the great season.

A New Start or a Bad Start

Fall, the time for pumpkins, Halloween and hoodies. Yeah all those things are fun (really fun) but for me what fall is for is soccer. (I don’t really have a choice it’s like every other day). The new season starts right when the spring season ends. Living in Wisconsin winter comes quick (really quick), meaning we only have time to play six games.

Madison Tournament – September 7-8

Game One – vs. Madison 56er’s Team Red

First I pack my bags and hop on down to Madison. Madison, crazy right? After many long hours in the stinky hot car, after many episodes of the British Baking show and a stop at Subway we arrived. It was a great day, the sun was out and there were hardly any clouds. It was perfect for a soccer game. I was super excited to play and then… We got demolished. Smashed. Pushed. And scored on 9 times. Yep 9-0. Every soccer player hates games like this. (It’s my worst fear actually, I don’t want to remember the details of that tragic nightmare).

Game Two – vs. Southeast WI

I walk back to my car, thinking how will I be able to play another game. Hours later I come back to the field, refreshed (well mostly just really tired but,) ready to take on whatever the other team throws at us. The game starts and they score. What’s new? But then! It was just Ilia and the goalie. With a touch and a hit, cheering erupts. We scored. Finally. It felt so good (I cheered a little to loud, oops). With a burst of energy I played hard. But, not for long. 1-1, turned to 1-2. 1-2, turned to 1-3. (Ugh) halftime.(our coach gave us a you could do better talk) I tried my best to stay in the game, but 1-3 turned to 1-4. I was sick of being pushed around (especially cause I don’t think our ref was paying attention). Our team had a chance. A chance for a goal (maybe). Emily was in their box about to shoot. Two hands pushed on her back (how rude). She was shoved to the ground. Pk!! (I love pk’s they are my favorite, exsept when their for the other team). Emily stepped to the line. The ref blew the whistle. Emily ran up and..  it’s in the back of the net! (atta’ kid Emily) Cheers and celebration all around. 2-4, not a win but it’s better then 9-0. Exhausted from the long day I just wanted to collapse, but first I had to get food (oh I was so hungry). We enjoyed a good meal and a good laugh. The second I laid down I was asleep.

Game Three – Madison 56er’s Team White

Morning came quick along with another game. I was a bit sore (more like a lot sore). I felt slow. I took the field determined to end this tournament with a win (and a goal). We fought hard getting some chances, them getting some. I ran down the field heart pounding. I was on a breakaway (I’ve always dreamed of scoring on a breakaway). I took a big touch to get a away from the defense chasing me. The goalie came sprinting out right towards me (uh oh). I had to get rid of the ball and fast. I heard emily calling “Back post” (thank goodness she was there). I lifted my foot and passed the ball towards the goal (praying it would make it there) and the goalie ran into me (or maybe I ran into her). I was on the ground. My head hurt. Holding my head lying on the ground I heard.. cheering? Yes! We scored. Emily came to help me up with a big smile on her face. I smiled too. 1-0 we started the game strong we had a chance. I shook off the pain and started playing. I wanted to win. 1-1 They tied it up (ah man). 1-2. Darn it. we couldn’t lose it now. Halftime.

As the second half started the craziest thing happened, we all crashed the net trying to get the ball in the goal. Their defense scrambled to try and clear the ball (but failed). Armana got just a tap on the ball (then hit a girl on their team) then it was in the Goal! 2-2 We were in it again. Darn it. Our equalizer didn’t last long they scored making it 2-3. When all of a sudden one of our player was on the ground. Ref?! Our kick, (perfect). Close to midfield Kayden stepped up to take the kick. The ball soared through the air. It started to curve down towards the box. It bounced off of a players head (the other teams player), and goal! Back of the net. 3-3. In the last few minutes we tried to get one more goal but the whistle blew. Overall we played a (really) good game. My Madison days were over and I headed home. I didn’t wanna go to school the next day I just wanted to keep on playing soccer. That was a really crazy start to the fall. Only five weeks left, til cold took over and fields turned into indoor domes.
